Success in Photography Competition



Northgate Photography had success in a recent competition entitled 'snap' organised by St. Josephs college. Rebekah Pooley in year 12 one best landscape for the 14-18 category and Louisa kennard in year 13 was the runner up in the portrait category. Well done to both of you.

GCSE Art Exhibition: A great success

Congratulations to all year 11 pupils who have their work in the exhibition in the sixth form common room. The work, as always, is outstanding and the moderation process is now complete. We look forward to celebrating your success on Thursday 22nd May at the Open evening between 7pm and 8pm.

Year 12 Paris Trip

The Picassso Museum
Our Itinerary has been finalised and you will receive a copy of it shortly. Meanwhile here is a short version of some of the places you will be visiting:


  • Day One: Outward journey, Montmartre, Sacre Coeur, Place du Tertre.

  • Day Two: Musee D'Orsay, Eiffel Tower, Cruise on the Seine.

  • Day Three: Pompidou Centre, Monet's house at Giverny, Bowling.

  • Day Four: Rodin Museum, Picasso Museum, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees.

  • Day Five: Visit to Auvers Sur L'Oise, return home.

You will be shattered by the end of the trip, but I am sure you will have had a fantastic experience... and 'Yes', there is school on Monday!

Your preparation is vital to a good outcome and a high grade. You must ensure all the Assessment objectives are being covered and quality is always upmost in your mind. New Wolsey Theatre project reaps rewards





Three of the shoe decoration design entries by Northgate pupils won catagories in the New Wolsey Theatre christmas shoe displays. Daisy Nicholson won the 'Most Festive ' catagory, Elaine Fraser won the 'Best interpretation of design brief' and one with NO NAME won 'Most artistic'. If you recognise the 'No Name' piece as yours let Mr Emery know straight away...

Congratulations to the winners, you will receive a certificate and complimentary tickets to a show of your choice.
Could the winners see Mr Emery at break either in his office or come to the staffroom. WELL DONE!

Environmental Art: Year 12

Enhance your 'Environmental Art' work by visiting and engaging in the Victoria and Albert Museum's World Beach Project. Have a go...

Year 10 Trip The V&A and The Natural History Museum


74 pupils and 4 members of staff went to London to the V&A Museum and the Natural History Museum to collect resources and ideas for their Natural Form project. Congratulations are deserved for the oustanding behaviour and hard work. Some stunning drawings were done and copious leaflets, postcards and other freebies were collected by all. Pupils saw the classic exhibits suach as the Blue Whale, the moving Tyrannosaurus Rex and the earthquake, but most drawings tended to focus on smaller fossils, rocks, butterflies and skeletons.
